Holiday Crafts for Kids
Happy Holidays, Everyone!
It can be hard to keep kids entertained when they are stuck indoors for winter. Working on crafts has so many benefits! From working on hand eye coordination, to following step by step directions, these crafts are great for a child's growing mind! Here are some fun holiday craft ideas that will keep them creative and make fun memories!
DIY Snow Globe
Find a glass or plastic jar with a screw top. If you are using a mason jar, I recommend hot gluing the two lid pieces together. Then, take a fun holiday character (Snowman, Reindeer, Santa) and hot glue them onto the bottom side of the lid. While the glue is drying, mix ¼ Elmer's glue with ¾ hot water, and add glitter!! Mix well and add to the jar. Quickly and carefully add a ring of hot glue on the inside of the lid and screw on tight! Wait about 10 minutes, then turn your globe over to test for leaks (if it does, you can add a ring of hot glue outside the lid as well). And voila! You have made your own snow globe! Give it a shake and watch that snow fall!
Santa Beard Christmas Countdown
Using construction paper, cut Santa a face, hat, and beard and glue them together. Draw on eyes, a nose, and some rosy cheeks! On Santa's beard, write the numbers 1-25. On December 1st, glue a cotton ball or Pom Pom over the number 1. Add one every day until Santa’s beard is completed on Christmas Day!
Winterland Sensory Bag
Put one cup of clear hair gel in a ziplock bag. Add some blue food coloring to give it a wintery look! Add foam snowflakes, glitter, buttons, and pom-poms (pro-tip: dollar tree is the best for these supplies)! Ziploc the bag shut and use duct tape or washi tape to secure it to a flat surface. Now you have a fun, squishy sensory bag! Sensory bags can provide hours of mess-free fun!
I hope our WPT families stay safe, warm, and entertained this holiday season. If you and your kids try any of these fun crafts, text our office a photo at 859-475-4305. We love to see what our kiddos can do!
