10 Sensory-Based Summer Activities to Try

  1. Chalk outside with spray bottle to clean up:  tactile and visual processing skills

  2. Popsicle: oral motor and tactile input 

  3. Outside scavenger hunt: tactile and visual processing skills 

  4. Slip and slide/water balloon play: vestibular, proprioceptive and tactile processing

  5. Swinging, riding bikes, or riding a scooter: vestibular, proprioceptive and visual and tactile processing 

  6. Hide and seek: vestibular, proprioceptive, visual and tactile processing 

  7. Lay on back looking up at the clouds to find various shapes: vestibular and visual processing 

  8. Pick flowers to make a flower crown: proprioceptive, visual and tactile processing 

  9. Picnic outside: all 8 senses!

    • Fun fact! Eating requires all 8 senses, and trying to eat outside adds a novel component to this sensory experience.
